Experience:

  • Mr. Rudra Sharma is the managing partner of Transnational Law House(TLH) and manages a team of young attorneys, senior attorneys and very senior attorneys. Rudra comes from the core of corporate law practice of Nepal as he worked as a legal consultant for five years for the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry ( FNCCI), represented several legal issues from the privates sector of Nepal, established Brand ( intellectual property) cell and commercial mediation center in the FNCCI. He worked for FNCCI to draft core corporate laws of Nepal like Company Act, Competition Act , Intellectual Property Law, Government Procurement Law, Custom Act and some other similar laws. Rudra's duel advance degrees LL.M in Commercial Law from Nepal and another LL.M from United States of America in Transnational Business Practice and his over 13 years practice of law has made him a seasoned corporate lawyers of Nepal. He is typically known for his expertise on international contract formation, contract negotiation and implementation of contract with respect to projects. 
  • Rudra advises national and international banking institutions and he has advised transactions of multinational companies like Group 4 Falk, ICRAFT, HUAWEI, OPTICHINA and ALVARION. He has also advised mega projects like Birjung-Kathmandu Railway of Benchmark Pvt. Ltd. and has also advised Telecommunication Company, NCELL (erstwhile Mero Mobile), Rasuwa Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project (100 MW), Mistrikhola Hydropower Project (42 MW), and has advised several other hydropower projects including Energy Council of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Rudra has also worked as a consultant for UNDP project to frame Intellectual Property for Nepal. He has also worked in a renowned law firm in California called Rothschild & Sands and interned in another law firm in California called Hector Davila. Rudra is also a frequent writer and opinion maker on corporate, constitutional and transnational legal issues as he writes frequently in national and international publications including the American Chronicle (http://www.americanchronicle.com/authors/view/3932) and speaks frequently in media on these issues. His writings on World Trade Organization (WTO) became remarkable to build national opinion in order to make Nepal a member of the WTO in 2004.

Worked on behalf of the FNCCI to draft Industrial Property Act, Company Act, Government Procurement Act, Competition (Anti-trust) Act and FNCCI Commercial Mediation Center Regulation.

For the last 9 months in FNCCI. 
Established the Mediation cell in FNCCI and drafted FNCCI Mediation Regulation, 2006. The USAID project was funded by USAID Nepal.

Honor/Leadership 

  • Honored by the Award Travel writer of the year 2000 under the category of "Tourism Entrepreneurship Development" by Nepal Tourism Board. The award carried Rs 20,000.00 cash prize and a certificate in the year 2000.
  • Helped Nepali community in northern California by voluntarily providing services for counseling on immigration law, appearing for interpretation in the Citizenship and Naturalization Services Office in San Francisco; and by delivering speeches on immigration law and contemporary affairs among Nepali community.
  • International speaker on “ The role and Nepal in anti-counterfeit alliance” at an international seminar of intellectual property organized by the Confederation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries ( CII) , 24 August, 2004
  • Represented the private sector of Nepal in an international seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution organized by Asian Productivity Organization (APO), New Delhi, November, 2006.
